A growers' cooperative founded in 1958, and one of the great arguments that cooperatives can make serious wine — Produttori draws on members' holdings across Barbaresco's best crus and remains the reference for traditional style. Nebbiolo without new oak or shortcuts: pale garnet, with rose, sour cherry, tar, leather and dried herb, on high acidity and firm drying tannin. Barbaresco is Barolo's slightly earlier-maturing neighbour, so this gives the same architecture with a little less waiting. Decant it, and give it years rather than months.
