Barbaresco Vallegrande

Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, high tannin, high acidity, dry

Vallegrande is Ca' del Baio's home cru in Treiso, the highest and coolest of the Barbaresco communes, and the estate's flagship Barbaresco (Gambero Rosso gave the 2016 Tre Bicchieri). Aged in large oak, it is fresh and fragrant: red cherry and raspberry, violet and rose, licorice and white pepper, with fine, firm tannins and lifted acidity. It drinks well from a few years after release and ages for twelve to fifteen years.

Serving: Serve at 15–17 °C.
