Often called the best true Alsatian-style Pinot Gris in the southern hemisphere, and Paul Pujol spent three years as chief winemaker at Kuentz-Bas in Alsace, so the reference point is earned rather than borrowed. Central Otago's advantage with this variety is that it ripens into genuinely aromatic territory while holding onto acidity, which warmer regions struggle to do. The 2024 draws on all three estate sites — Rocky Point in Bendigo for about half, Kopuwai Delta in Pisa for most of the rest. Whole-bunch pressed with no skin contact or bâtonnage, then raised in twenty-year-old barrels and foudres. Dry, complex and layered, with real richness of texture but a fresh finish rather than a heavy one. Pujol's line is that there are no second-class citizens in the vineyard: this is cropped as low as the Pinot Noir.
