The collaboration between Paul Pujol and François Millet, who made the wine at Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé in Chambolle-Musigny for thirty-five vintages and now comes south each year to direct this one. Since the first release in 2015 it has come from a single parcel on the Home Vineyard, high in the Bendigo hills — a glacial terrace formed 650,000 years ago, with clay and pedogenic lime over a thick layer of chalk at 50 to 80cm, yields held to around 30 hl/ha. Tightly wound and floral: violets, crushed rock, tapenade, apple skin, blood orange and black tea, with a Campari-like bitter minerality and dehydrated orange peel. Tannins are gently extracted and finely built rather than imposed. Unmistakably Central Otago and unlike anything else made there.
