The darker and more intense of Prophet's Rock's two Bendigo Pinots, from a north-facing terrace rising from 320 to nearly 400 metres above the Bendigo Station homestead. The soils are the point: a rare mix of schist, clay and pedogenic lime, with chalk beneath — 7.5 hectares planted between 1999 and 2001 to seven clones, organically certified since 2018. Steep slopes catch maximum sun while the altitude delivers cool nights, which is where the freshness comes from. Juicy and textural, with ripe cherry and strawberry over a saline edge, brightness and focus above a rich mid-palate. Vinified identically to the Olearia so the two sites can be compared directly; this is the deeper, broader of the pair.
