Campofiorin was Masi's invention in 1964 — the ripasso technique applied outside the Valpolicella appellation, which is why it carries the broader Rosso del Veronese designation. Brolo is the upper tier, from a single walled vineyard with longer ageing. The young wine is refermented on partly dried grapes, giving Amarone's dried-cherry sweetness, cocoa and warm spice without the weight or the alcohol. Full-bodied and supple, with rounded tannin and a savoury, almond-tinged finish.
