For whites, the Rueda zone specialises in fresh, aromatic Verdejo. **Character** — The plateau sits at high altitude with a continental climate: hot days and cold nights, with a big daily temperature swing. This helps the reds keep firm acidity and structure alongside deep, concentrated dark fruit, while the whites stay crisp and lively. **Good to know** — Ribera del Duero, Toro and Rueda are the headline DOs, but the wider region includes many others such as Bierzo (made from Mencía).
