Pinot Noir from Bannockburn, the warmest and driest sub-district of Central Otago — the world's southernmost wine region, in a mountain desert where fierce summer sun meets very cold nights. That gap is what makes the wine: dark cherry and black plum with thyme, a savoury undergrowth note and a distinct wild-herb lift, medium-bodied with fine tannin and taut acidity. Darker and more powerful than most New World Pinot without losing perfume. Excellent from three years and good for ten.
