Tasting profile
Structure: full-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry
The grand vin of Château de Villemajou, Gérard Bertrand's family estate in the Boutenac cru of the Corbières, farmed biodynamically. It is a blend of very old Carignan (around 80-year-old vines) with Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, aged in oak. Deep garnet, with dark berry fruit, liquorice, clove and toasty oak over Mediterranean scrub. Ample and powerful on the palate, with silky, ripe tannins and a long peppery finish. Built to age for about 15 years.
