Weinert is one of Mendoza's genuine oddities — an estate that never abandoned the old Argentine practice of very long ageing in large old oak casks before release, so its wines arrive already tertiary while contemporaries are still selling primary fruit. Carrascal is the entry blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Dried plum and cherry over leather, tobacco, walnut and a savoury earthiness, full-bodied with resolved tannin and moderate acidity. It tastes decades older than its age, by design.
