Langhe Bianco is a catch-all appellation in a corner of Piedmont known almost entirely for red wine: this is Barolo and Barbaresco country, and whites are made on the plots that do not suit Nebbiolo, usually from some combination of Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Nascetta or Favorita. Luigi Baudana is a small estate in Serralunga d'Alba, one of the great Barolo communes; since 2009 it has been farmed by Giuseppe Vajra's family, who kept the Baudana name after Luigi retired without heirs. Expect citrus and green apple with white flowers over a stony mineral core, medium-bodied with brisk acidity and more texture than the freshness first suggests.
