Lanson's numbered non-vintage Brut, the successor to Black Label: each Création is a new blend, built on one harvest and a large share of reserve wines. Création 259 is roughly half Pinot Noir with Chardonnay and Meunier. It shows Lanson's taut, high-acid house style: citrus and crisp orchard fruit over a creamy mousse, with pastry and toasted notes from lees ageing. It is fresh and precise rather than vinous, and makes an excellent aperitif and match for shellfish.
