Tasting profile
Structure: full-bodied, low tannin, medium acidity, dry
A serious Rhône-style white, and not one to treat as a summer refresher — Grenache Blanc leads at around half the blend with a large share of Viognier and a little Roussanne, fermented in concrete egg and aged on its lees in concrete and French oak. That regime is what gives it weight and a creamy, saline texture rather than simple fruit. Grapefruit and Meyer lemon over white peach and honeysuckle, with nutmeg, clove and ginger spice, a hint of toast and dried hay, and a seductive salinity through the finish. Epoch also bottle an extended-age version of this wine, which tells you what they think it is capable of. Serve it around 10°C, not colder, and treat it as a food wine.

Where it comes from
California, United States
California is the powerhouse of American wine, stretching down the western coast of the United States and responsible for the vast majority of the country's production.
Grenache Blanc
Grenache Blanc is a white grape, the pale-berried cousin of red Grenache, with roots in northern Spain, where it goes by Garnacha Blanca.
Viognier
Viognier is a white grape from the northern Rhône Valley in France, long the signature of the tiny appellation Condrieu and a variety that came close to disappearing before a revival spread it far beyond its Rhône home.
Roussanne
Roussanne is a white grape from France's northern Rhône, often partnered with Marsanne to make some of the region's most distinguished whites.
