Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, medium acidity, dry

Petite Sirah leads this Paderewski blend — around 70% in most years, filled out with Mourvèdre, Grenache and a little Syrah — and that makes it the most structured wine Epoch produce. Dark and earthy, with black fruit, roasted herbs and an almost rare-meat savouriness, lifted by the red-fruited minerality the Grenache brings, and finishing on roasted coffee, graphite, chocolate and cigar box. The tannins are the point: dense, chewy and slow to resolve. This is the bottle in the range that most rewards being left alone, and the one that most wants a decanter if you don't.
