The flagship of the estate and the more concentrated of its two Malbecs, drawn from the oldest, lowest-yielding vines on the Yacochuya slopes above Cafayate and given longer in new French oak than its San Pedro sibling. At this altitude the Calchaquí sun and cold nights produce a wine of unusual density — black plum and dried violet layered with tobacco, liquorice and an almost ferrous mineral note, framed by tannins that arrive in a solid block when the wine is young. Serious, brooding and built for the long haul rather than for early charm.
