Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, high acidity, dry

Asinone is Poliziano's single-vineyard Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, from the estate's oldest and best-exposed vines in the Asinone vineyard, made from Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile, as it is known locally) and aged in French oak. Vino Nobile takes its name from the town, not the Montepulciano grape. It is one of the appellation's benchmark wines: dense black cherry and plum with violet, tobacco, cedar and sweet spice, on firm, ripe tannins and lively acidity. It ages well for fifteen years or more.

Serving: Serve at 16–18 °C.
