Tasting profile
Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, high acidity, dry
Les Argales is a skin-contact white from Nicolas Jacob at L'Étoile in the southern Jura, roughly 80% Chardonnay and 20% Savagnin, organically farmed, spontaneously fermented and given long ageing with little or no sulphur, sold as Vin de France. An orange wine of real structure: dried apricot and orange peel with walnut, curry spice and herbs, a firm tannic grip and bright acidity. Serve cool, not cold.
