Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry

Mothervine is Mount Pleasant's Pinot Noir from the 1921 plantings on the Old Hill vineyard in the Hunter Valley. This is Australia's oldest Pinot Noir site, and the source of the MV6 clone that much of Australia's Pinot descends from. The vines grow on red volcanic soils and give a vivid, savoury Pinot: red cherry, cranberry and red apple skin, with rooibos-like tea notes, a slatey spine of fine tannins and bright acidity. It develops for about a decade.
