Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry

This is Mount Pleasant's Old Hill Shiraz, selected from the best barrels of the Old Hill vineyard that Charles King planted at Pokolbin in 1880. It is one of the Hunter Valley's great sites. The wine is medium-weight yet intensely flavoured: raspberry and red cherry with sarsaparilla and carob spice over an earthy core, and velvety tannins that build through the palate. It is a long-lived Hunter Shiraz that can be held for fifteen to twenty years.
