Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry

4 Acres is a Sacred Sites single-vineyard Shiraz from the oldest block on Tyrrell's Ashmans estate in the Hunter Valley, planted by Edward Tyrrell in 1879 on red clay over limestone. It is made only in top vintages and matured for about 14 months in an older large oak cask, so the fruit leads rather than the wood. Medium-bodied and fine, it shows red cherry, plum and spice over earthy depth, with firm, fresh acidity and fine tannins. It ages for twenty years or more into classic savoury, leathery Hunter Shiraz.
