A Barossa GSM — Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre, the southern Rhône trio that the Barossa's old dry-grown bush vines handle as well as anywhere outside France. Grenache brings red cherry and warmth, Shiraz the dark plum and body, Mourvèdre the savoury, gamey, faintly earthy backbone that keeps the blend from turning sweet. Full-bodied with soft rounded tannin and a warm spiced finish. Generous and immediately likeable, and a good deal more interesting than straight Barossa Shiraz.
