Alejandro Vigil's El Enemigo Cabernet Franc comes from high-altitude vineyards in Gualtallary, Uco Valley, on calcareous, sandy soils. It is about 90% Cabernet Franc, with the balance Malbec (varies by vintage), aged 15–16 months mostly in old foudres with around 20% new French oak. Fresh and structured rather than heavy: red and black cherry, violets and graphite, with tobacco and herbs. The altitude keeps the acidity bright, and the wine gains from a few years in bottle.
