Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, high acidity, sweet

Ernst Loosen's Auslese from the Erdener Prälat, a tiny, sheltered amphitheatre of red Devonian slate and volcanic soil backed by rock walls and often the warmest site in the Middle Mosel. Old, ungrafted vines give exotic, spicy fruit: orange liqueur, cantaloupe and tropical notes with lime, honey and spiced apple, lusciously sweet yet lifted by high acidity. Prälat Auslese is among the Mosel's most age-worthy sweet wines, gaining depth over two decades or more.

Serving: Serve at 9–11 °C.
