Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, medium acidity, dry

Petit Verdot is a late-ripening variety normally used in small doses to add colour and backbone to a blend — bottled on its own it is a demanding wine, and the Hunter's warmth is one of the few Australian settings that ripens it properly. Deeply inky, with blackberry and dark plum over violet, black pepper, dried herb and a graphite edge. Full-bodied with dense, chalky tannin and a long savoury finish. Austere when young and genuinely in need of time and air.
