The flagship red of Caiarossa, a biodynamic estate at Riparbella in the hills behind the Tuscan coast. It is a Toscana IGT blend led by Cabernet Franc and Syrah, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and small amounts of Grenache or Alicante; the proportions change every vintage. Expect dark cherry, cassis and plum with graphite, pepper and coastal herbs, polished but firm tannins and fresh acidity. It is built to age: it opens up from around five years after the vintage and good years keep well past ten.
