Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, high acidity, dry

This is Catena's "Appellation" Chardonnay from Tupungato in the Uco Valley, grown at high altitude where cold nights keep the acidity bright. Part is fermented in French oak and part in tank, then aged on the lees in French barrels, a share of them new. It combines ripe pear and white peach with lemon freshness, a light hazelnut and vanilla touch from the oak, and a faintly flinty, mineral finish. It drinks well on release and keeps for a few years.
