Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry
Alluvium is a single-vineyard field blend of Syrah, Touriga Nacional and Viognier from Aeon, the Hunter Valley label Alisdair and Kenisha Tulloch launched in 2023. The fruit comes from old vines on the sandy alluvial soils of the Field of Mars vineyard in Pokolbin, which give the wine its name. The three varieties are co-fermented with whole bunches and matured for about a year in 500-litre French oak puncheons, at a moderate 13% alcohol. It is a medium-weight, spicy red with plum, blueberry and white pepper, made to drink over its first several years.
