Tasting profile
Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry
Vertosol is Alisdair Tulloch's Aeon Shiraz from the Tawarri vineyard, high on the Merriwa plateau in the Upper Hunter Valley. It is named for the deep, black basalt-derived soils it grows on. Most of it is raised in stainless steel and a minority in barrel for about six months, so it is fresh and fruit-pure: blackberry and black cherry with violet, black pepper and a graphite, savoury edge, medium body and fine tannins. It is best within about five or six years.
