A Grosses Gewächs (dry grand cru Riesling) from the Forster Jesuitengarten, one of the Mittelhaardt's most famous sites, made by Weingut von Winning in Deidesheim. Von Winning ferments its top Rieslings spontaneously, partly in large and small oak, giving extra texture and a smoky complexity. White peach, yellow plum and lime zest over a stony, flinty core, with herbs and a light spice. Taut and bone-dry in youth, with great concentration and length; Falstaff gave the 2023 95+ points and noted its enormous ageing potential. Decant when young; serve at 10–12°C with noble fish, shellfish or poultry.
