Deidesheimer Kalkofen GG

Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, low tannin, high acidity, dry

Deidesheimer Kalkofen takes its name from the old lime kilns on its limestone-rich soils, and von Winning's Grosses Gewächs from it is a dry Riesling fermented with wild yeasts in wooden casks. Yellow peach, citrus and white flowers with a chalky, spiced finish; rounder and more generous than the estate's Grainhübel, yet long and precise. Ages well for a decade or more.
