Tasting profile
Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, high acidity, dry
ROC is Verónica Ortega's most classical red, from two plots of 80–90-year-old Mencía vines, El Couso and La Rata, on sandy, stony soils in Valtuille de Abajo, Bierzo. It is fermented with whole clusters in a large open oak vat and aged about 17 months in used French barrels. Fresh and finely structured: red cherry and blackberry with violet, graphite, dried herbs and pepper, on bright acidity and fine tannins. It ages well for a decade.
