Le Prunée is Tommasi's varietal Merlot from the Veneto plain, and the name — the little plums — is the house's own description of it. Part of the fruit is dried briefly in the Valpolicella manner before fermentation, which pushes the wine towards black plum and dried fig rather than the leafy, red-fruited side of Merlot, and a spell in oak adds vanilla and cocoa. Medium-bodied, soft-tannined and generous, made to be drunk rather than kept.
