This is the everyday face of a famously severe grape: unoaked or lightly aged rather than given the long barrel time of Taurasi, so the sour-cherry and damson fruit stays in front and the tannin, while present, is firm rather than forbidding. High acidity and a dry, faintly smoky, herbal finish — a wine that wants food and is much better at the table than on its own.
