Tasting profile
Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, high acidity, dry
Le Bonille di Sopra is the Chianti Classico Riserva of Terreno, the organic estate near Greve in Chianti run by the Ruhne family since 1988. It comes from the Bonille di Sopra parcel on alberese and galestro soils and is mostly Sangiovese with a little Cabernet Sauvignon and Colorino. Fermentation runs with native yeast in open 10-hectolitre vats, then the wine spends two years in large 24-hectolitre casks and at least a year in bottle. Expect dark and sour cherry, prune, black tea and cardamom with a touch of coffee, firm Sangiovese tannins and bright acidity. A serious, structured Riserva that rewards cellaring.
