The Leap Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, medium acidity, dry

The Leap is Stags' Leap Winery's estate-grown Cabernet from its own vineyards in the Stags Leap District, mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Petite Sirah, Malbec and Merlot, aged around 19 months in largely new French oak. It is rich and dark-fruited, with black cherry, black raspberry, cassis and plum over forest floor and espresso, firm, finely grained tannins and bright acidity that keeps it from feeling heavy. It rewards a few years in bottle and ages for fifteen years or more.
