Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, high acidity, dry

Goldlack trocken is Schloss Johannisberg's top dry Riesling, ranked above the estate's Silberlack Grosses Gewächs. It comes from the historic Johannisberg hill on quartzite and loess-loam and spends an extended period on its lees in large casks in the estate's old cellar. It is concentrated and powerful: ripe yellow fruit, mango and citrus peel over floral notes, with a salty, piquant minerality and firm Rheingau acidity carrying a long finish. It is built for decades, slowly gaining honeyed and savoury depth in bottle.
