Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, medium tannin, high acidity, dry

Piccini 1882's Brunello in its Tre Cipressi range: 100% Sangiovese from limestone-rich Montalcino vineyards around 350 m, fermented in steel, then aged about two years in oak (mostly large traditional botti, with a short finish in French barriques) and released in the fifth year after harvest. Dark cherry, plum and violet lead into leather, dried herbs, cedar and licorice. The tannins are fine-grained and well integrated, with bright Sangiovese acidity, so it is a polished, approachable Brunello more than a long-haul one.

Serving: Serve at 16–18 °C.
