Tasting profile
Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, medium acidity, dry
J. Lohr's top-tier Paso Robles Cabernet, grown mainly on the cool, calcareous Shotwell Vineyard in the El Pomar District with small parts from Creston and Adelaida, and rounded out with a little Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Sixteen months in tight-grained French barrels (about 70% new) give a dense, full-bodied red of blackcurrant, black cherry and cassis over cedar, cocoa and vanilla, with firm, fine-grained tannins and fresh lift from the limestone sites. Built to age, the producer suggests ten to fifteen years.
