Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry

The Wheelwright is Henschke's single-vineyard Eden Valley Shiraz, first released in 2015 to mark 150 years of Henschke winemaking and named for founder Johann Christian Henschke. It comes from low-yielding, ungrafted, biodynamically farmed vines that Cyril Henschke planted in 1968, and is matured about 20 months in mostly seasoned French hogsheads. Elegant and deep: blackberry, mulberry and black cherry with violet, five spice and pepper, fine-grained tannins and cool-climate freshness. It is built for several decades in bottle.
