**Eden Valley** is a cooler, higher-altitude wine region in South Australia, tucked into the hills adjoining the Barossa, and is prized above all for its whites. **Wines & grapes** — Riesling is the headline grape, producing dry, tightly focused whites with great ageing potential, while Shiraz here takes on a more elegant, spicy form than in the warmer valley floor below. **Character** — The elevation brings cooler nights and a longer growing season, so the wines gain a fineness and lift you don't always find in the Barossa.
