Malvazija Istarska

Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, medium acidity, dry

Malvazija Istarska from Fuhtar, a small family winery near Labin on Istria's eastern side that grows Malvazija, Teran, Merlot and Muscat. Istrian Malvasia is the peninsula's signature white grape, and in this fresh, unoaked style it gives a dry, medium-bodied wine with acacia blossom, ripe pear and apricot over a gently bitter almond finish and a saline, coastal edge. Made to be drunk in its youth while the fruit is bright; serve at 9–11°C with seafood and Istrian ham.
