Château d'Ampuis is Guigal's blended Côte-Rôtie, drawn from seven parcels across the Côte Brune and the Côte Blonde and aged for about three years in new oak. It is Syrah co-fermented with a little Viognier. Dark plum and blackberry sit over smoked meat, black olive, violet and bacon fat, and the appellation's savoury depth is carried on firm but polished tannin. It is a step above the Brune et Blonde and built for the long haul.
