1753 Syrah Grenache

Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry

The 1753 range of Château de Campuget at Manduel, south of Nîmes, is named for the year the château was built. This Costières de Nîmes red blends Syrah and Grenache, fermented in stainless steel and then given about a year in oak barrels, at around 13.5% alcohol. Expect blackberry, plum and violet with black pepper, rosemary and a touch of vanilla from the oak, on medium body and ripe, rounded tannins. A generous southern Rhône-style red for drinking over its first few years.
