Poggio al Vento is Col d'Orcia's flagship, a single-vineyard Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from a windswept hillside on the estate's organically farmed land in the south-west of Montalcino, near Sant'Angelo in Colle. 100% Sangiovese, given long ageing in large oak casks and then in bottle before release, six years or more after the harvest. Powerful yet elegant: black cherry, cherry liqueur and blackberry with balsamic herbs, baking spice, scorched earth and tea leaf, carried by firm but enveloping tannin and fresh acidity. Built for long cellaring.
