Brunello di Montalcino

Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, high acidity, dry

Col d'Orcia's estate Brunello comes from its organically farmed vineyards on the southern slopes of Montalcino, near Sant'Angelo in Colle. It is pure Sangiovese, aged about three years in large oak casks before bottling, and released only after the appellation's minimum of five years from harvest. Dark cherry and dried plum with leather, balsamic herbs and tobacco sit over firm tannin and high acidity. It is a traditional, savoury Brunello that needs time and rewards a decade or more in the cellar.

Serving: Serve at 16–18 °C.
