Rosso di Valtellina Nerriolo

Tasting profile

Structure: light-bodied, medium tannin, high acidity, dry

ARPEPE's Rosso di Valtellina is 100% Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) from 50- to 100-year-old vines on the lower terraces of the Sassella and Grumello crus. A long maceration on the skins and a short spell in large untoasted casks and cement keep it fresh and translucent: tart cherry and raspberry, dried rose and orange zest, with an iron-tinged, peppery mountain savour and cool, chalky tannins. Lighter than the house's Riserva wines, but true Valtellina in miniature.

Serving: Serve at 13–15 °C.
