Tasting profile
Structure: light-bodied, low tannin, high acidity, dry
Allante & Boulanger are two long-standing vineyard hands from Domaine Labet who farm about three hectares of their own around Rotalier and Gizia in the southern Jura, along biodynamic and permaculture lines, and vinify naturally with native yeasts. Alongside the local Jura grapes they planted Pineau d'Aunis, the Loire's peppery red variety, which falls outside the Jura appellation rules and so is bottled as Vin de France. Expect a pale, light red with wild strawberry and redcurrant, cracked white pepper, herbs and a lightly earthy note over bright acidity and very soft tannins. Serve it cool and drink it young, within its first few years, with charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled sausages or a wedge of young Comté.
