Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore

Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry

Zenato's Ripassa is a benchmark for its style: Valpolicella Superiore refermented on the drained Amarone skins, which lends the dried-cherry richness, cocoa and warm spice of the bigger wine without its weight or alcohol. Mostly Corvina with Rondinella and a little Sangiovese. Full-bodied and supple, with plum, tobacco and a bitter-almond finish, enough grip for braises and hard cheese but no real austerity. The appeal is richness rather than structure.

Serving: Serve at 16–18 °C.
