Relentless

Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, medium acidity, dry

Shafer's Relentless is a Syrah from the winery's hillside estate vineyards, typically about 90% Syrah with Petite Sirah adding colour and grip. It is labelled Napa Valley. The fruit is dense and dark, with blackberry liqueur and plum, lifted by violet, cracked pepper and incense, over smoked meat and graphite. Sweet French oak frames it. It is full-bodied and muscular, with firm tannins and a long, powerful finish. It needs several years in bottle to unwind and is built for a decade or more.
