Tasting profile
Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, high acidity, dry
Moretta is the small project of Natalia Poblete and María José Ortúzar, and Carigno del Maule is their 100% Carignan from the dry-farmed vineyards of Chile's Maule Valley, where the grape has been revived on old bush vines. It is bright and savoury rather than heavy: raspberry and sour cherry with dried herbs, pepper and an earthy note, carried by Carignan's lively acidity and firm but approachable tannins. A wine for the table in its first several years.
